'Summer Traditions At Lambeau Field' Set For Saturday
posted 07/30/2004
The Green Bay Packers' fourth community event, 'Summer Traditions at Lambeau Field,' is set for this Saturday, July 31, from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.
'Summer Traditions' is an event free of charge geared toward families with a setting from the year 1908, when Curly Lambeau was 10 years old. The event will feature exciting activities that children experienced at the turn of the century. 'Summer Traditions' will take place outside in the northeast (Lombardi Ave. and Oneida St.) corner of the Lambeau Field parking lot.
As guests enter the event, they will pass two large covered wagons and receive 'Summer Traditions' pinwheels. In addition, Heritage Hill employees will be dressed as if the year was 1908 and mingling with guests. Old time props and plants will be on display making great picture opportunities.
Events slated for the day include three-legged, gunny sack and wheelbarrow races, pie eating contests, a petting zoo, complimentary Breyers ice cream, a sawdust treasure hunt and a 20-foot farm animal mural for anyone to paint.
In the event of rain, the races will be replaced with different activities and may be moved into the Lambeau Field Atrium.
The three previous community events were 'Spooktacular,' a Thanksgiving meal for area needy and 'Project LEAP.'
